About Us

Rieger Yan (Hans-Helmut), born in Munsterberg (Silesia) Germany.
Attended art-school in Poland and studied art & design in Paris France, since 1961 living in the United States.
Studied for 5 years at the Junior Art-College in Zakopane,
Two years at the National Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.
Traveled to France and attended for two years the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts in Paris, Atelier de Marcel Gimond, and for 4 years at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs.
From 1962 to 1964 employed by Doig Bernardini Studios in Manhattan in the position” Interior Designer” creating ecclesiastical environments, cultic appointments, stained and faceted dalles-glass windows, mosaics and sculptures.
From 1964 to 1967 worked in the position of  Senior Designer and project manager at the Rambusch Decorating Company in New York City; designing interiors and art-works for many Cathedrals, churches, and civic centers.
In 1967 joined renowned artists Jonynas and Shepherd, as partner.
In 1971 established an art & design studio in collaboration with Francoise.


Yan’s extracurricular social Activities:

In 1978 During Yan’s services as member of the Brooklyn Diocesan Liturgical Commission the Diocese organized a National Meeting of FDLC , Yan gave a presentation/lecture on the subject of “baptistery design” thru ages at St John University. Attended the National Meeting of Diocesan Liturgical Commission in Albuquerque NM.
1982 – As member of the Rockville Center Diocesan Liturgical Commission Yan attended the National Meeting of FDLC in Buffalo New York. Exhibited wood sculptures of St Mary and Sacred Heart.
1990 – In the position of Rear Commodore at the Orient Yacht Club, Yan organized local yacht races and national regattas for the Jl24 sailboats and Laser class.
2000 – For several years Yan served on the “Architectural Review Committee” for the Town of Southold NY. As president of SIAC ( Societe International des Artists Chretien) Yan organized together with Bert Dusil of Germany ,the Jubileum Conference “of SIAC in Luxembourg , supported by the Luxembourg Minister of Art &Culture, an art exhibition for international artist was given at the same time at Museum of Dudelange in Luxembourg. Yan exhibited stained glass designs. The next SIAC Conference organized by Yan took place in Bad Reichenau am Bodensee in Germany.
2003 – Yan in conjunction with R. Winslow started “The Riverhead Show” A monthly half hour documentary for the local W channel 20, consisting of interviews with renowned artists, cultural and art institutions.
2008 – One man art glass show at OHS Swanson Gallery under the title “His arts shines through”
2011 – “Fibre & Glass” art show Swanson Gallery at OHS, presenting weavings by Francoise and aft glass by Yan.
2018 – Presented “Painting with light’, workshop for senior citizen at Peconic Landing Greenport NY

Rieger Françoise Amelie née Dieuzaide, born in Southern France. 
Earned her Baccalaureate in Philosophy (with honors) at a Classical College. Studied drawing and painting at the Academie Charpentier and La Grande Chaumière.
Attended for four years the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratif in Paris.
Received medals: in History of Art for study of marketplaces in the province of Gers. design for a residence on the Marne River.
Obtained one year National Scholarship for studies abroad.
Attended the Sorbonne.
Instructed art at the Lycee Francais in Manhattan NY. Executed many art commissions.
